Elise Baroni is a rising second-year law student at the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville. Elise has chosen to intern at the Law Office of the Shelby County Public Defender this summer to pursue her interest in a career in public defense. Elise has always believed that the constitutional right to counsel, regardless of one’s ability to afford it, is essential to the function of our criminal justice system. The Law Office of the Shelby County Public Defender reflects this sentiment by not only providing legal representation for clients in need, but by taking a comprehensive approach that focuses on re-entry into society and the client’s real and immediate human needs, which is why Elise is excited to intern at our office. In her free time, Elise enjoys all kinds of exercise and teaches a spin class at a local gym.
