Rachel DiSibio
Washington University School of Law in St. Louis
Rachel DiSibio (She/Her) is a rising second-year law student at Washington University School of Law in St. Louis. Driven by the principle that criminality never exists in a vacuum, Rachel has chosen to work at the Law Office of the Shelby County Public Defender this summer in order to dedicate herself to dismantling the carceral state. The Law Office of the Shelby County Public Defender fosters a culture of learning, diversity, and openness, all of which are necessary in the development of a new, intersectional attorney. Rachel was drawn to Memphis’ vibrant community, and desires to extinguish the systemic inequalities Tennessee communities face. At Wash. U., Rachel currently serves on the board of If/When/How Lawyering for Reproductive Justice and is dedicated to gender equity. To that end, Rachel is also pursuing a dual JD/MA degree in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies to analyze methods of advancement for marginalized communities through the law. Rachel has two dogs whom she loves endlessly, and is always down for coffee.
