Samantha Crisanti is a rising second-year law student at Georgetown University Law Center.  Samantha is a proud, queer Latinx woman dedicated to fighting for a future in which our system of policing no longer exists, poverty is not criminalized, and transformative justice practices replace the United States’ culture of punishment and racial oppression.  Her decision to work with the Law Office of the Shelby County Public Defender was informed by her oral history work with activists and civil rights veterans throughout the South. Through our holistic approach to public defense, Samantha knew the Law Office of the Shelby County Public Defender would be a place where she could learn from—and with—passionate attorneys, community members, and clients.  In her free time, Samantha loves to kickbox, drink too much coffee, be the DJ at parties, and have conversations with strangers.
